Adam Hendrickson attended three consecutive SAB Summer Courses before enrolling as a full-time student in the fall of 1996. He was named a recipient of SAB’s Rudolf Nureyev Scholarship for the duration of his training at the school, and in 1998 he was awarded SAB’s Mae L. Wien Award for Outstanding Promise. In the spring of 1998 Mr. Hendrickson became an apprentice with New York City Ballet, and in the summer of 1998, he joined the Company’s corps de ballet. In January 2005, he was promoted to the rank of soloist. During his career at New York City Ballet, Mr. Hendrickson danced featured roles in numerous ballets by George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, and Peter Martins, including The Goldberg Variations, Fancy Free, Watermill, Symphony in Three Movements, Chaccone, and Fearful Symmetries. He retired from performing in July 2012 after 14 years with New York City Ballet. 

Mr. Hendrickson was a guest teacher at SAB during the 2017-18 Winter Term and joined the permanent faculty at the invitation of Kay Mazzo in September 2018. His film work includes Columbia Pictures’ Center Stage and PBS’ New York Export: Opus Jazz.
