Angela Malan, a native of Johannesburg, South Africa, received her professional training in her hometown. Over the course of her career, which spanned 30 years, she held the esteemed position of Senior Principal dancer. Recognised as one of South Africa’s most accomplished ballerinas, Angela showcased her talent across a vast repertoire of diverse genres and was honoured with various awards, including the South African Arts and Culture Trust Award for excellence. Her performances were celebrated for their pure classicism and exceptional artistic expression. During her career, Angela had the privilege of collaborating with renowned artists such as Friedemann Vogel, Guillaume Cote, Nikolaj Hübbe, Kenneth Greve, Jozef Varga, and Marlon Dino, and had the opportunity to work alongside distinguished teachers, choreographers, and producers. A founding member of the South African Ballet Theatre, now JoBurg Ballet, she later served as rehearsal director and ballet mistress. Following her move to Ethiopia, she initiated and produced International Ballet Galas in support of the charitable initiative Dance to Make a Difference. Today, Angela is active internationally as a guest teacher, coach, producer, and choreographer. She is affiliated with the ABT National Training Curriculum and under the guidance of Lynne Charles, she is a certified 4Pointe teacher across all levels. In addition, she is also a certified Vinyasa yoga
instructor and the creator of Yogallet, a specialised yoga method designed for ballet dancers. Now based in Milan, Italy, Angela has taught at prestigious institutions including Accademia Teatro alla Scala, The Royal Ballet and Opera, the Royal Danish Ballet, and Norwegian National Ballet, among others.
